Connected Life Challenge.
What is it for?
With the Ideation Platform, you can test your app or services ideas, challenge them against the knowledge and expertise of mentors, and get feedback from other registered participants. Mentors are featured on different panels that represent a specific expertise, so you can get the input and answers you need on different aspects of your solution.
When should I use the Ideation Platform?
During the online ideation and incubation periods, whenever you have questions about the app or service you wish to develop during the Hackathon. All questions are welcome- whether they're about the concept or idea itself, a feature, the development of your app, or the use of a specific technology. This also applies to connecting with participants- you can contribute to their idea or receive input from others to enrich your concept and form teams.
Is the use of the Ideation Platform mandatory?
Yes. You'll need to use of the Ideation Platform is mandatory during the incubation online to succeed to the challenge. This will help you obtain valuable help and feedback in the early stages of your project in order to go from a satisfactory concept to a cutting-edge one.
How does it work?
After registering on connectedlife.bemyapp.com, you will receive an e-mail invitation to register on the Ideation Platform. From the e-mail, you will be redirected to the Welcome Page, where you can create an account (name, profile and password). You will then be able to submit questions to the panels that you wish to get answers from.
When I ask a question, can anyone see it and answer it?
Yes, every registered person can see your posts. When you pose a question, you will be asked to select one or more mentor panels where you would like to get feedback. Unselected panels will be able to see your questions and can still answer them if they think their feedback might be valuable. However, selected panels will be the most common respondents. Questions and panel answers are openly shared and can be commented on by other registered participants.
What about giving points to mentors for their answers?
You can provide feedback via ‘points’ that let you show your appreciation. When you find answers relevant or very helpful, you can give points to the mentor to show your gratitude. It will motivate others and foster connection!
What does it cost to participate?
It is completely FREE to participate. Simply register by choosing a ticket that corresponds to the main role you want to play, namely Idea Generator, Data Analyst, Developer, Designer or Super Weapon.
STEP 1: ONLINE IDEATION
What is it?
In the first phase, this ideation platform permits participants to submit and discuss ideas in relation to the Hackathon themes with a panel of experts and other participants.
How does it work?
Starting Monday, August 31st, participants will work on a platform to adjust ideas they want to build in the Hackathon by getting feedback from other participants and mentors.
When does it end?
The final phase of the contest will be a physical Hack Day session in London (U.K.), where participants will pitch their ideas, build their team, and start to build their project using data provided with the help of experts.
Do I have to physically attend the Hack Day?
No, but it's strongly encouraged. If you might not be attending or are sending an online video for your pitch, you will be able to connect and build your team via the Ideation Platform on that day. The BeMyApp team will help you to build it.
STEP 2: HACK DAY
Who can participate?
Anyone who has registered, agreed to the Terms and Conditions, and prepared an idea to pitch (and eventually launch) is invited to the Hack Day ! You are not obliged to have made the online ideation stage, however we strongly recommend using this phase to mature your ideas.
Who can pitch an idea?
Anyone who has a idea can pitch it to the attendees, in 1 minute with 1 slide.
How do we form a team ?
After the pitch session, you will be able to build your customised team through an animation called ‘Cash Rush.'
Can I come with my own team ?
Yes, you can come with an already-formed team.
STEP 3: ONLINE INCUBATION
How is it connected to the Hackathon?
This phase consists of educational part (webinars, 1-on-1 sessions, private coaching sessions, and more) and progress milestones, which the participants have to achieve to successfully complete the second phase.
How long will it last?
The second phase (a 6-week incubation) will be held online.
Will every project participate in the Hackathon?
If after the second phase, more than 20 project groups exist, a selection of the Top 20 projects will be narrowed down by a jury of representatives from our partners.

STEP 4: HACKATHON
Who can participate in the Hackathon?
The Hackathon is open to registered participants of the event who are at least 18 years of age or are the age of majority in the jurisdiction where they reside, whichever is older. Preferably, they should be a marketer, developer, idea generator, designer, or data analyst. Also any company willing to participate.
The following people are not eligible to participate: (a) individuals who are employed by the BeMyApp Corporation, EventBrite, Allianz, or Allianz Digital Accelerator GmbH or any of Allianz direct or indirect wholly- or majority-owned subsidiaries; (b) the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings or children) or household members of any employees or former employees; (c) residents of Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Sudan or Syria.
How does it work?
The Hackathon begins with a short pitching session on Saturday, November 28th, to remind the mentors and the rest of the participants about the project they have worked on in the online incubation. Coding will begin later that evening. On Sunday, November 29th, teams will demonstrate and present their apps in front of an expert jury. After the jury’s deliberations, the winners will be announced.
What kind of ideas can I pitch?
To pitch an idea and participate in the challenge, your idea must mix at least two of the four themes described on the Hackathon website.
How large can a team be?
Teams must have a minimum of two team members and a maximum of six.
Is this an overnight Hackathon?
Yes. The Hackathon event starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday and ends on Sunday at around 6:30 PM. The venue will be open at all times during the event. You are welcome to bring a sleeping bag for overnight hacking. Comfortable facilities will be provided for the whole hackathon, so you can have the best conditions to continue hacking.
Will you provide food and beverages?
Of course ! A well-fed team is a happy team. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
What are the prizes?
The event has three prizes: First place prize is €10,000, second place prize is three MacBook Airs, and third place prize is three Apple Watches. The prize money will be evenly divided among the winning team's members. Additionally, we will be distributing swag and other fun prizes from time to time.

If I am a startup and have been working on an app, can I enter it in the Hackathon?
Your app must be designed and built during for the Connected Life competition.
Does Allianz Worldwilde Partners or BeMyApp keep my design/code after the Hackathon?

Will I get to demo my app or service?
Yes! You will have the chance to demo in front of a panel of judges and peers on Sunday, November 29th. Please see the agenda and Terms & Conditions for details.
How does judging work?
Starting at approximately 3:30 PM on Sunday, you will be given up to three minutes to publicly demonstrate your app and undergo a Q&A period in front of a panel of judges and peers. The panel will score all entries based on Desirability, Viability, Feasibility, and Innovation. Each criterion represents 25% of the total score.
Who are the judges?
The judging panel will consist of representatives from the Allianz Group, prominent industry figures, and professionals in the media industry. The judges are not expert panels of the Ideation Platform. They only judge and select the three winning projects of the challenge. They will be announced here soon !
